Congratulations

Hello Everybody!!!
Just a quick note to tell you that It was great to teach at EOI Goya these months, and that I am glad that so many people passed in June. Those of you who have to try again in September, do not worry, you are capable of passing, I am sure!!!

I want to wish you a wonderful summer, happy holidays, and enjoy these two months a lot before the new course starts!!!

Let me post here a wonderful composition written by one of my students in 2F, Julian. He writes amazingly well, I hope you enjoy his composition as much as I did!

WHAT HAPPENED?

It was a rainy evening. I was standing by the window, looking through it, how the drops were hitting against the glasses. I had lived this experience many times. In the street, two boys were jumping over puddles while another one was staring at them. They were completely soaked. Suddenly I felt that all turned around me like in a merry go round.

When I woke up, I couldn't hear the monotonous sound of the rain, actually I couldn't hear anything. Well, the sadness of the silence. I had a bad feeling. I didn't know where I was. It was a white room without furniture or windows. I didn't understand what was happening.

Few seconds later, when I noticed there wasn't any door either, the panic invaded me. I went towards the walls to see if I would be able to break them to escape. But it was impossible, I couldn't reach them.

"How is it possible? It has to exist some secret door or hole to enter here". I thought. I tried to keep calm, since it could only be a nightmare. I breathed deeply and closed my eyes.

When I woke up again I was lying on the floor, in my old living room. I heard that it wasn't raining. All around me seemed to be right. I stood up slowly and I went to the kitchen to have a glass of water, because I was thirsty. I remembered the children in the street so I came back to the window to see if they were still playing.

Oh my God! I shouted. I was absolutely terrified. From there, I could only see the white room with me inside.

Present Perfect

Hello Students,
This is a post to give you a link to a very good explanation of present perfect...We use "pretérito perfecto" in a slightly different way, so I hope that this explanation and the exercises that you will find at the bottom of the page will help you a bit...all right?

NOTE:

Some of the activities cannot be done by first year students because we have not seen in class some tenses that I have seen with second year students...
And please have a look at the left side of the page:-)It is a help with tenses
http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/presentperfect.html

By the way, I was having a look at the handouts I have given you and there is one mistake in one photocopy I gave to SECOND YEAR STUDENTS:

In the PHOTOCOPY "Compound nouns made with SOME, ANY AND NO" you can find these sentences:
e. He doesn 't have to stay anything to stay tonight
f. I wouldn't eat anything except at Maxim's

Well, there is a mistake: please change the word ANYTHING for ANYWHERE. OK?
